Above photos are the kids play set being setup, as you can see they got it finished. The weather reports are saying we may get up to 85 MPH winds next week. Down in this dust bowl we are in we probably will not be able to see anything.

One of the above photos is of first new electric pole that was installed, we are hopping to have ele. by the end of the week. Also above is the small motor home that Marge will be staying in and a view of the bottled water that we got covered. You can see Mark working on one of our signs in the background.

Another Big Day

Friday was another big day. We received a semi load of water and other trucks loaded with Gatorade, shovels, rakes, gloves, trash cans, bleach, duct tape, garden hoses and many other items. More people are starting to stay here overnight and we expect that to increase because there Red Cross vouchers are about to expire for hotel rooms. Also the number of families picking up supplies and using the showers and laundry are increasing.

Mission Updates

Above photos are of my 5th wheel parked at the CoC Center and one of the view from the front door. As you can see all of the large trees are black and the small ones have nothing left but a stick standing. We are expecting several loads of food, water and supplies between now and the weekend. We have people living here at the center now. Yesterday a play area was setup in one of the tents for the kids. New toys and books were donated. A large play ground set is on it's way here also. Sorry the updates are not as often as I normally do but I can't always get a signal to get online. This is the 6th place I tried this morning to get it to work. Every time it will work in a different place.

DRT Mission Update

Today was a very busy and long day. Tent city is now officially named Churches of Christ Center. Today I moved my 5th wheel to the center. It was a long slow trip over
the mountains. We also setup a office tent and continued to get things organized. My internet conection is very bad here so my time on the computer will be limited.

Above photos show the mountains that surround the tent city and what looks like a cross flying over us is actually the electric co. flying poles up into the mountains to repair the ones that were burned.

Setting Up Tent City

Well, I made it to California. The work that we are going to be doing here is a very large undertaking. We are setting up a tent city to do all of the following.
As normal we will be distributing food, cleaning supplies, cloths, cleaning damaged homes and helping rebuild. Here at the tent city we will also have 2 shower trailers, a laundry trailer, portable toilets, large tents with A/C setup for the families who's homes were burnted, play ground, pet kennell, activities for the kids, church services and entertainment each Saturday night and providing 3 meals each day. I will be taking my 5th wheel there and be on site 24/7. At the registration table we will be giving people wrist bands. Green will be full access to the city. Yellow access to supplies, shower and laundry area. Red for picking up supplies only. Below was taken from the DRT's web page.

WE ARE WORKING WITH THE SAN DIEGO AREA CONGREGATIONS FOLLOWING THE RECENT WILDFIRES.
DRT IS IN THE PROCESS OF SETTING UP A "TENT CITY" IN THE COMMUNITY OF BARRETT JUNCTION, CA. WE WILL BE SERVICING THE COMMUNITIES OF BARRETT JUNCTION, DULZERA AND PETRERO. ALL THE SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT FOR THIS HAVE BEEN DONATED.
WE WILL BE SERVING 3 MEALS A DAY, A LAUNDRY TRAILER AND SHOWER TRAILERS HAVE BEEN SET UP. WE WILL ALSO HAVE STRUCTED ACTIVITIES FOR THE CHILDREN. MEMBERS OF THE SAN DIEGO CONGREGATIONS WILL BE HERE TO MEET AND GET TO KNOW THE FIRE SURVIVORS. WE WILL ALSO START HAVING WORSHIP SERVICES HERE ON SITE.
THIS IS AN AREA OF MANY HOMES THAT HAVE BEEN BURNT, THE HOMEOWNERS HAVE NO INSURANCE AND NO MEANS TO REBUILD. OUR GOAL IS TO REACH OUT TO THEM SPIRITUALLY AS WELL AS PHYSICALLY.
IF YOU ARE ABLE TO HELP WITH THIS DISASTER, WE ARE IN NEED OF YOUR PRAYERS AND VOLUNTEERS TO HELP IN TENT CITY AS WELL AS CLEAN UP AND REBUILDING OF HOUSES. FUNDING IS DESPERATELY NEEDED TO HELP WITH FOOD FOR THE COMMUNITIES, HOUSEHOLD SUPPLIES AND FOR PURCHASING BUILDING MATERIAL.
