Email from Don Hudson

Friends, by now all of us are probably aware of the hurricane that is growing in intensity and seems to be heading toward the gulf states. Rosemary and I are now working with "Disaster Assistance". This group is under the eldership of the Alachua Church of Christ in Alachua, Fla. I personally know one of the elders there and have been in his home. A man with whom we worked a great deal with in Katrina is the Director of the this work. His name is Mike Baumgartner. We have not only become brethren, but great friends. The work in which "Disaster Assistance" does first of all trying to minister and teach people who are affected by such disaster as hurricanes. We endeavor to set up bible study opportunities with them and give them literature about the Lord and the Church. We are involved in Needs Analysis, Food & Supply Distribution, Meal Preparation, Volunteer Cooordination and helping the local church in their coordination of work in the disaster.
Naturally funding is very important in this work of helping and comforting and teaching people immediately after the disaster strikes.
If you and/or the church to which you belong are looking for a mission minded disaster help group that goes right into the "heart of the disaster" would you please send donations to this excellent mission minded group. Disaster Assistance
Alachua church of Christ P.O. Box 237 Alachua Fl.32616 You can call Mike at 407 739 4963 for more info and of course if you would like to volunteer. You can call me anytime at 931 698 3150 , but you may not get me on the computer in a few days as Rosemary and I are planning to help if this storm developes into the disaster that many fear it will be.
May I say this. There are many other excellent Disaster groups lead by just excellent christians. If you are interested in helping another group, please also call me and I will be happy to put you in contact with others. We have friends and brethren in many good organizations. Thank you ahead of time for your prayers and assistance. Don
